The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Udom Emmanuel, has won the governorship race in Akwa Ibom with 999, 071 votes to beat the candidate of the All Progressives congress (APC), Umana Okon Umana who scored 89, 865 votes.

The APC is however calling for the cancellation of the poll, alleging that the poll was marred by electoral malpractices. The party had announced yesterday April 11 that it boycotted elections in the state.
