The Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Olufemi David, on Thursday, April 9, warned officers of the command attached to political office holders not to misuse their uniforms on Election Days.

David gave the warning while addressing newsmen in his office in preparation for the April 11 Governorship and House of Assembly elections.

He said although the command has made adequate security arrangements for a smooth conduct of the elections, it will not condone its men wearing their uniforms to escort political appointees on that day.

He warned that the command will arrest and prosecute any policeman found violating the order.

The commissioner said political appointees who allowed any of their uniformed aides to follow them in uniform on the election day would equally be arrested and prosecuted.

According to him, adequate police personnel have been deployed to all parts of the state to maintain law and order throughout the exercise.

David commended residents of the state for exhibiting good behaviour during the Presidential and National Assembly elections.

He, however, urged them to improve on the conduct during the governorship and house of assembly polls.

He said that vehicular movement will be restricted during the exercise, except those on election duty or essential services.
