The Federal Government has announced that Nigeria’s land borders will be temporarily closed due to the upcoming elections.

The Governorship and State House of Assembly polls are slated to hold across the country on Saturday, April 11, 2015.

The borders will be closed from midnight of Thursday, April 9,  to midnight of Sunday, April 12, Vanguard reports.

The decision was reached in order to ensure the success and peaceful conduct of the election.

A similar action was also taken by the government prior to the March 28 Presidential and National Assembly elections.
