President directs airports, borders not stop past govt officials from travelling

In a statement released by Buhari’s Head of media team, Garba Shehu, Buhari said he did not ban anyone form travelling.

President Muhammadu Buhari has directed all agencies under the government not to subject anybody, particularly officials of the past administration, to any undue harassment.

The President is reacting to the reports that some officials of Jonathan government are being stopped at the airports.

According to a statement released by Buhari’s Head of media team, Garba Shehu, he said he did not ban anyone form travelling.

The President said all the agencies must respect due process and run their affairs in full compliance with extant rules, regulations and the constitution of the country.

“Unless otherwise directed by the courts, no law-abiding citizens should be barred from travelling abroad. We must treat fellow citizens with courtesy and respect. Officials at the borders and other points of entry and exit should conduct their affairs in strict compliance with due process. No one has my permission to bar anyone from travelling abroad,” the president said.
