‘Jonathan has nothing to fear,’ President-elect says

Buhari added that despite the acrimony involved in the election campaigns, he would not hold a grudge against anyone.

President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari has said that incumbent President, Goodluck Jonathan has nothing to fear from him.

The President-elect said this after receiving his Certificate of Return from the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Attahiru Jega.

“Let me state clearly that President Jonathan has nothing to fear from me. Although we may not agree on the methods of governing the nation, he is a great Nigerian and still our president. He deserves our support and permanent respect by virtue of the office he has held,” Buhari said.

“This is how an honourable nation treats its servants and conducts its affairs. I should be looking forward to meeting with President Jonathan in the days to come to discuss how our teams can make the transition of administrations as efficient as possible,” he added.

Buhari also extended a hand of friendship to Jonathan and his campaign team.

The President-elect suffered numerous attacks from a number of Jonathan’s associates and was called brain-dead by First Lady, Patience Jonathan who also accused him of plotting to imprison her husband.
