‘Subsidy removal is unrealistic,’ Ibe Kachikwu

He said this when Senator Suleiman asked for his candid opinion on Subsidy removal, during the Senate screening of ministerial nominees.

The Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr. Ibe Kachikwu said Subsidy removal is unrealistic.

He said this when Senator Suleiman asked for his candid opinion on Subsidy removal, during the Senate screening of ministerial nominees.

He spent over 1 hour, the longest, answering questions thrown to him by the Senators.

Kachikwu also said that subsidy removal will hurt the poor people, if palliative measures are not put in place to cushion the effect.

He also listed areas where the government can help cushion the effect for Nigerians. He listed the health, transportation and education sectors.
