Yahaya Bello has been sworn in as the governor of Kogi State.

Bello took over from predecessor, Idris Wada at a ceremony which held today, January 27, 2016, in Lokoja, the state capital.

Read five important things he said during his inauguration speech below:

1, “I will be fair to all Kogites and I belong to everybody and belong to nobody.”

 

2, “I understand workers in Kogi have not been paid 4 months and over a year for local governments. We will soon start payment.”

 

3, “I hereby declare that the Yahaya Bello administration will not tolerate corruption, I'll live by example.”

 

4, “We will see increase in our Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).”

 

5, “We have conceived a socio-economic blueprint that'll benefit the people.”

 

Bello was sworn in without a deputy due to the failure of his designated running mate, James Faleke to appear at the ceremony.
