Abuja prepares to host historic inauguration

The capital, Abuja, is a hive of activity ahead of the inauguration of President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari.

The Eagle Square, which is the venue of the event, is fully decorated for the event that is scheduled for Friday, May 29, 2015.

The centre is ready to receive hundreds and of local and international dignitaries as well as visitors expected to attend the historic event.

The event will mark the official handing over of power to former military leader MuhammaduBuhari by PresidentGoodluckJonathan.

Nigeria’s new President will be inaugurated on Friday 29 May at Eagle Square, Abuja. On the same day State Governors will also be inaugurated in their respective states. These inaugurations may "cause disruptions to travel, including road closures and increased security,” the United Kingdom said in a message sent to its citizens.

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Solomon Arase, has ordered the diversion of traffic on all roads around the venue of the swearing-in ceremony.
