Sango served as Nigeria’s Minister of Sports and Youth Development from June 1999 to January 2001.

Sango emerged victorious today, May 11, 2016, after a state congress which was keenly contested, according to Punch.
He garnered 758 votes to defeat three other contestants, Bitrus Kaze, who got 222 votes and Philips Aduku, who got no votes.
