MASSOB has the backing of United Nations charter on indigenous peoples right to self-determination.
Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, leader of the Movement for Actualisation Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), has refuted claims that the group has been banned.
He said this, while speaking on the purported ban of the group’s activities in Anambra state, by the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hosea Karma.
According to Sun Newspapers, Uwazuruike said "MASSOB has the backing of United Nations charter on indigenous peoples right to self-determination."
Mazi Chris Mocha the Deputy National Director For Information of MASSOB, buttressing Uwauruike’s point said “The UN General Assembly had on Thursday, September 13, 2007, whilst Uwauruike was in detention in Kefi prison in Nassarawa State, adopted a resolution that called for the recognition of the world’s 370 million people’s rights to self-determination and control over their lands and resources.”
