Governor to restructure ministries, appointments to cut cost

Ahmed has announced that his administration would be streamlining ministries and appointments to save cost in line with ‘current realities’ in the country.

Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed has joined the growing list of governors who are adopting austerity measures to cut cost in their states.

The governor made the disclosure on Tuesday, June 23, 2015, via Twitter.

He said:

“In line with current realities, we're streamlining ministries and appointments to save cost, thus freeing up money for essentials.”

“Streamlining ministries and appointments is just one of the ways we are diversifying our economy. Making tax collection effective is key.”

The governor also appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to work towards paying the N12 billion owed the state by the federal government for work done on its roads in Kwara.

Other governors who have announced austerity measures are Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna, Mohammed Abubakar of Bauchi and Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano among others.
