Lawmakers serve impeachment notice on Governor

The notice was served on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, with the support of 12 out of the 24 lawmakers.

Members of the Kebbi State House of Assembly have served a notice of impeachment on Governor Saidu Usman Dakingari.

The legislators accused the governor of gross misconduct in the performance of functions of his office and stated this as their reason for instituting impeachment proceedings.

Other impeachable offence levelled against the governor include violation of state laws and financial misappropriation.

The governor, in response, however described the lawmakers’ actions as Illegal and unconstitutional.
