PDP urges Elrufai to conduct Local Government elections

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State has called on the governor, Malam Nasir Elrufai to organise Local Government elections in the state.

Upon the expiration of the six month tenure, Elrufai dissolved the earlier appointees and sent another set of names to the Kaduna State House of Assembly for confirmation as IMC.

The IMC have already been screened by members of the Kaduna State House of Assembly and now waiting for swearing in by the governor.

Speaking on Saturday, March 19, 2016, during a programme in Birnin Gwari LGA of Kaduna State, the PDP Chairman in Kaduna State, Hon. Abubakar Gaiya Haruna said that Local Government needs elected chairmen to run its affairs.

“We call on Kaduna State governor, Malam Nasir Elrufai to organise Local government elections. Only elected local government chairmen will bring rapid growth and development in the state” Gaiya said.

Also speaking, the immediate past governor of the State, Dr Mukhtar Ramalan Yero through a representative, urged the PDP in the state to unite and form a formidable opposition.
