Election tribunal yet to receive petitions

The Secretary of the tribunal, Hannatu Bello, said the tribunal is still waiting for any petition that may follow the outcome of the polls.

The National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal in Kaduna State, is yet to receive any petition on the outcome of the March 28 and April 11 elections.

The Secretary of the tribunal, Hannatu Bello, made this known in an interview with NAN on Friday, April 17 in Kaduna.

According to her, the tribunal is still waiting for any petition that may follow the outcome of the polls.

"All complains must be made within 21 days after the declaration of the winner by INEC," she said.

Bello said the tribunal would not accept any petition brought after the 21 days as stipulated by electoral law.

Mallam Nasir El-rufai of the All Progressives Congress had won the April 11 governorship election in Kaduna state with over 1 million votes to defeat the incumbent governor, Ramalan Yero of the People's Democratic Party.

Yero had congratulated El-rufai on his victory at the polls.
