Assembly confirms Usman Durkwa as the new deputy-governor

The Borno House of Assembly on Tuesday confirmed Alhaji Usman Durkwa as the new Deputy Governor of the state.

Speaker of the House, Alhaji Abdulkarim Lawal, announced the confirmation during the sitting of the House in Maiduguri.

Lawal said Gov. Kashim Shettima had forwarded the name of Alhaji Durkwa as the new Deputy Governor, for consideration of the House.

He explained that the appointment of Usman Durkwa, followed the death of the state Deputy Governor, Alhaji Zannah Mustapha, in Yola on Aug.15.

He said the appointment of a substantive deputy governor by the state governor,was in line with the powers conferred on him by section 191 sub section 3 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
