‘Elections won’t be postponed again,’ President assures

The Presidential and National Assembly election is slated to hold on Saturday March 28, while the Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections are set to hold on April 11.

President Goodluck Jonathan has assured Nigerians that the upcoming general elections will not be postponed again.

Jonathan gave the assurance on Sunday, March 22, during a Presidential Debate organised by the Nigeria Elections Debate Group (NEDG) Abuja.

“Let me use this unique opportunity to thank Nigerians today for showing much interest in the electoral process and to re-assure Nigerians that elections will hold as scheduled by INEC,” the President said.

“The presidential election and the National Assembly election on the 28th of this month, and the governorship and the state assembly election on 11th of next month,” he added.

President Jonathan also urged Nigerians to stop celebrating corrupt people and those with ill-gotten wealth.

The general elections were originally billed to hold on February 14 and 28 but were postponed due to security concerns.
