Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole has cast his vote in Unit 1, Ward 10, Iyamho Primary School in Etsako West Local Government Area of the state.

While doing so, the Comrade Governor took time out to complain about stolen voter cards. He's been on the subject of stolen biometric cards and fraudulent voter register for a while now.

Said Oshiomhole: “The people have accepted and are ready to celebrate democracy. There is no problem here in my area based on what I have seen now. But I have received information of stolen card readers and sporadic shooting to scare away voters in some areas.”

Our eyewitness reporters say the turnout has been rather impressive for a vote holding in mid-week. This Twitter user reckons so too.

There have been reports of vote buying on the ground. That is, politicians inducing voters with cash before the ballot is cast. But Pulse is in no position to affirm or deny those.

APC chairman John Odigie-Oyegun cast his vote earlier too. He's been under fire lately after APC leader Bola Tinubu called for his resignation. He looks rather unflappable.

Still on impressive voter turnout....

Aside the thugs raining blows earlier, our reporters say the vote has been rather peaceful in several polling units. Are you on the ground? Hit us on our social media pages with pictures as well.

A quick numbers trivia here courtesy of Premium Times:

Edo State has a total of 1,925,105 registered voters; 192 Registration Areas (RAs); 2,627 Polling Units (Pus); and 4,011 Voting Points (VPs).

A total of 25,000 police officers were deployed across the state to ensure peace and security during the polls, while 44 observer groups were accredited by the Independent National Electoral Commission as election monitors.

APC chairman Oyegun is visibly impressed. Said he:

“I am very pleasantly surprised because this is the best turnout. I’ve always voted here, this is the best turnout I’ve ever experienced. It presumes that something good is about to happen, that people are keen to express their democratic options.

“It’s peaceful so far. I’ve been watching on TV.”

And so have we...

PDP is really crying foul right now. Excerpts of their press statement sent to Pulse is reproduced below:

"We have become aware that senior members of the All Progressives’ Congress (APC), in collusion with certain staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have started writing fake & fictitious results as part of their plan to manipulate the Edo State Gubernatorial Election which is taking place today.

"We are aware that these APC members are working in collusion with

"We are also aware that these officials have distributed millions of Naira to the Local Government Electoral Officers to get them to write false & fictitious results in favour of APC even before votes are cast".

Oh well......

PDP candidate Ize-Iyamu isn't happy with the presence of certain Governors in the State.

“We are also aware that the are also in Benin,” he said.

“This is worrisome. If the security agencies can declare restriction of movement even for those in the state, we are wondering why two governors not from Edo State will relocate to our state.

“We think that their reasons cannot be genuine. We have gone through the period of campaigning and we expect Edo people will be left alone to vote.”

Governor Oshiomhole has however called Ize-Iyamu a fake pastor for saying the Governors are in Edo.

“I have always said that Ize-Iyamu is not a pastor because one of the 10 commandments of God includes… but the man claims to believe in Jesus Christ, lies effortlessly like a pathological liar, and he insists he must be addressed as a pastor,” Oshiomhole said.

“Governor Ambode is too busy in Lagos and he is not registered to vote in Edo. Governor Ambode is a golden fish, there is no hiding place for him so where did they find him? Let them produce the photograph.

“It is because of the nature of our democracy… people who have criminal records are not supposed to vote. I am sure Governor Ambode is in Lagos doing what he was voted to do and we don’t need his help to come and vote for us because he didn’t need my help to vote for him in Lagos.

“El-Rufai is not here and if there is a place where the media is visible, I believe it is Edo state. Is it really in the mouth of a non-believer to parody the truth? You are the people who have the training/skill for what elsewhere is called investigative journalism, so it is for you to go round everywhere and find out whether any of these people are in town.”

Steve Ayorinde, the Commissioner for  Information and Strategy in Lagos State, has also said Ambode is no where near Edo:
