Senator reportedly begs colleagues to save him from recall

While pleading with other Senators, Melaye restated that his recall was masterminded by his state governor, Yahaya Bello.

In a recent report by Premium Times, the Kogi West Senator urged his colleagues to save him from being recalled by his constituents by citing Order 14 of the Senate Rule and pleaded with his colleagues to act.

While pleading with other Senators, Melaye restated that his recall was masterminded by his state governor, Yahaya Bello.

Melaye's appeal to the Senate is coming as the Independent National Electoral Commission unveiled a timetable and modalities for the exercise at his Kogi West Senatorial District.

Responding to his plea, the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, assured Mr. Melaye of the upper chamber’s support, proclaiming the recall process “dead on arrival.”

188,588 signatures were submitted and acknowledged by INEC before the electoral body accepted to go ahead with the recall process.
