‘There’s a limit to what I can do at 72,’ President says

Buhari further said that he would have preferred to have been elected into office when he was younger rather than at 72 years of age.

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that his age would serve as a limitation to his performance as Nigeria’s leader.

The President made the comments on Monday, June 15, 2015, while speaking to Nigerians resident in South Africa.

“I wish I became Head of State when I was a governor, just a few years as a young man. Now at 72, there is a limit to what I can do,” Buhari said.

Buhari however assured that his administration would kill corruption and ensure that Nigeria remains one united country.

“Our government is determined to secure the country, manage the economy, create employment and fight corruption. Some articulate writers have said if we do not kill corruption, corruption will kill Nigeria. This APC administration intends to kill corruption in Nigeria. We will do our best, I assure you,” Buhari said.

The President was in SA to attend the 25 African Union (AU) Summit and returned to the country on Tuesday, June 16.
