President reduces ministries to 25

The pattern of the list you see in the statement may be a sign of what to come as far as the number of ministries to be maintained by the President are concerned.

 

Reports say President Muhammadu Buhari has slashed the number of Federal ministries to 25.

Punch Newspapers reports that the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, hinted this to the press.

While announcing the deployment of new Permanent Secretaries, Adesina said “the pattern of the list you see in the statement may be a sign of what to come as far as the number of ministries to be maintained by the President are concerned.”

According to Punch, President Buhari scrapped the ministries of police affairs, aviation and special duties.

He also merged the ministries of Lands, Housing, Urban Development and Works to formMinistry of Works and Housing.

The information, culture, national orientation and tourism ministries were also merged to form Ministry of Information and Culture.

Also, Punch reports that the Ministries of Sports, Youth Development were merged to form Ministry of Sports and Youth Development.

The Ministry of Aviation is now under the Ministry of Transportation.
