President Muhammadu Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has withdrawn the name of Ahmed Musa Ibeto from his list of ministerial nominees.

The decision was announced today, October 14, 2015, by Senate President, Bukola Saraki who read a letter from Buhari to that effect.

No official reason was given for Ibeto’s withdrawal but some political commentators say that his name was removed because there were two nominees from Niger State on the list.

The other Niger indigene on the list is Abubakar Bawa Bwari who will now occupy the state’s slot.

The upper legislative chamber is expected to continue the screening of Buhari’s nominees today.

10 of the president’s 37 nominees were interviewed by the Senate yesterday and all of them were confirmed as ministers.
