Senate to confirm 18 remaining nominees today, October 29

The Nigerian Senate is set to conclude the ministerial appointment process today, October 29, 2015, by confirming the 18 remaining nominees.

The upper legislative chamber completed the screening of President Muhammadu Buhari’s 36 candidates yesterday, October 28.

Senate President, Bukola Saraki revealed via his Twitter handle that the confirmation would take place today.

“The process will be completed today,” Saraki said in response to a question on when the exercise would be concluded.

Among those yet to be confirmed is former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi.

Amaechi’s screening was surrounded by controversy due to a petition raised against him by three senators from his state and three postponements of the process by the Senate.
