Senator Bukola Saraki was said to have been unanimously elected as Senate President today, June 9, 2015.

This follows a crisis which erupted in the All Progressives Congress (APC) after the party chose Senator Ahmed Lawan as its sole candidate for the position.
Saraki however rejected the nomination and was subsequently endorsed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
