6 political parties in race step down for Sylva

The leaders of the parties said they reached the decision out of their love for the state and the need for a leader who understands the yearnings of the people.

 

The chance of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the Bayelsa State governorship election, Mr Timipre Sylva may have just got wider as six political parties in the race have resolved to step down for him.

Declaring their support for Sylva in Yenagoa, the state capital, the leaders of the parties said they reached the decision out of their love for the state and the need to have a leader that understands the yearnings of the people of Bayelsa.

The parties include; the Labour Party, Hope Democratic Party (HDP), Alliance for Democracy (AD), Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN), Advanced Congress of Democrats (ACD) and the United Democratic Party (UDP).

They called on the Bayelsa people to come out en masse and vote for Sylva as the actualization of the dream of a prosperous Bayelsa lies in his victory as the state governor.

Sylva and the incumbent Governor of the state,  Seriake Dickson are the major contenders in the election which holds on Saturday, Dec. 5.
