Mbachu also said that the crisis is similar to one that led to the downfall of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015.

He made the comments on Wednesday, November 23, while speaking to journalists in Owerri.

“I am sad with the current state of affairs in APC because if the founding fathers of APC fail to tackle the problems, it may spell doom for the party in future elections,” he said according to Vanguard.

“Because of the in-fighting in PDP before the 2015 elections, the former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar pulled out of PDP with five governors to APC and that move brought down PDP.

“The leadership of APC may be making a big mistake if all that we are hearing and reading in the papers concerning plans by some APC top brass to pull out of the party is allowed to happen.

“I expect that as men of honour, agreement reached during the fight that led to the political struggle that led to the defeat of PDP should be respected,” he added.

There have been rampant rumours of an imminent APC break-up in recent times following National Leader, Bola Tinubu’s call for the resignation of Chairman, John Oyegun.

Tinubu demanded Oyegun’s resignation after accusing him of cheating during the Ono governorship primaries.

The APC leader is supposedly sore at the emergence of Rotimi Akeredolu as the party’s candidate instead of Segun Abraham, who he is rumoured to have anointed for the position.
