Governor pledges improved tarnsportation for Lagosians

He said that his administration was also working towards commencing operation of the first phase of the blue line railway project to ease the transportation problem of the citizens.

 

Gov Akinwunmi Ambode on Thursday said that his administration was committed to faithfully addressing traffic congestion and improving public transportation in the state.

He commended the officials of the transport authority for their dedication to duty.

Amode said this at the official inauguration of the Mile 12 to Ikorodu Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor constructed by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA).

He said that the state had already started implementing a strategic transport master plan that would deliver a world class integrated public transport system.

"Our administration is committed to deal with issues of traffic congestion and bringing comfort and convenience to commuters in Lagos state.

"The BRT system is initiated as part of a strategy to modernise the public transport system as we have it in many parts of the world.

"The 30-year strategic master plan involves six rail lines, 13 BRT corridors, three cubical corridors and 26 developed water roots,’’ Ambode said.
