Ex-Governor fails to stop Wike’s planned probe of his administration

A High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, on Thursday, August 20, 2015, dismissed a suit filed by Amaechi, challenging the setting up of a panel to carry out the probe.

Attempts by former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi to stop a planned probe of his administration by successor, Nyesom Wike have failed.

In delivering the judgment, Justice Simeon Amadi held that the judicial commission of inquiry was not established to investigate the former governor’s personal activities but rather the actions of his government as they affected the people of the state.

Amadi said further that Wike was legally empowered to establish the judicial commission of inquiry.

Meanwhile, Amaechi has denied reports that he left an empty treasury saying that he left N10 billion behind for Wike.
