Tribunal upholds governor’s election

The tribunal, sitting in the state capital, Ibadan, reached the decision on Tuesday, October 27, 2015.

The Oyo State Governorship Election Tribunal has upheld the victory of Governor Abiola Ajimobi in the April 11, 2015, elections.

The three-man panel, led by Justice Muhammed Aliu Mayaki, also threw out the petition filed by Senator Rashidi Ladoja of the Accord Party saying that all the evidence he presented before the court was unreliable.

The tribunal also held that Ladoja had failed to prove that the election was rigged.

Ajimobi contested the polls on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and became the first governor of the state to win a second term in office.
