Following the recent report of six new cases of Zika Virus in Florida, Rick Scott, Governor of the state of Florida declared a state of emergency in 12 counties on Thursday, March 10, 2016.

With the six new cases in Florida, the total cases of Zika virus the state has increased to 54.

According to ABC News, the 53 zika virus cases are said to be imported while one is said to have been contacted sexually.

Most recently, Admiral Kurt Tidd, commander of the U.S Southern Command on Thursday, March 10, 2016 confirmed that two male military officers were diagnosed with Zika virus.
