According to Canadian minister for health, Jane Philpott, the country has recorded only 9 persons infected with the Zika virus.

He also confirmed that the all cases were not locally transferred, but were contracted outside Canada. She however said that it has not proven yet that the Zika virus can be transmitted sexually.
Philpott further said that pregnant women, and soon to be pregnant women to consider postpone their trip and if the trip was necessary, proper precautions should be taken to avoid daytime mosquito bites.

World Health Organization, WHO stated recently that vaccines to protect people against Zika virus on larger scale is at least 18months away.
