“We have collaborated with security agencies and set up a peace and reconciliation committee headed by my deputy, Malam Ibrahim Wakkala to dialogue with bandits and cattle rustlers through amnesty programs.

“It has became a serious issue of concern even though, we have recorded success because the issue had reduced drastically, but despite that the issue is trying to come back,

“We cannot allow this terrible situation to come back, that is why I sermon emergency meeting immediately on my return from United States.

“I have been holding series of meetings with stakeholders comprising security agencies, traditional rulers and council chairmen, among others since yesterday on how to get lasting solution to the problems”, he said.

He said it was very unfortunate that criminals were conniving with members of some communities to carry out criminal activities.

He said that no matter what efforts government have been doing, if members of the public are not cooperating with “us we cannot achieve our desired goal in this regard.”

According to him, security issue is a collective responsibility that concern everyone, therefore stakeholders must work together to address the situation.

“We must join hand with security agencies, we should support them with all necessary information in order to encourage them”, he added.

NAN recalled that unknown gunmen had last week attacked Tsafe Unit Command of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) where they killed one of the officers.
