'Don't link me with the avengers," Niger Delta minister raises alarm

Usani, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in an exclusive interview in Abuja on Tuesday, said it was an attempt by his political opponents to discredit him.

The minister, who is also the leader of APC in the state told NAN that since his appointment as the Federal Minister he has been under furious attacks through fictitious newspapers report and petitions.

According to him, information reaching him indicates that already, there are people coming into town to recruit miscreants and other undesirable elements to stage a protest against him.

The minister, however, said that he would not be distracted by the sinister plans of his political opponents as he has sworn allegiance to the Federal Government of Nigeria to serve dutifully.

He also said that his unalloyed loyalty is to President Muhammadu Buhari, who has graciously appointed him at this critical period of our national history to pilot the affairs of the Niger Delta.

``My immediate concern now is to turn around the fortunes of the Niger Delta region and create an environment conducive for development.

“My ministry has, therefore, rolled out a master plan to salvage the environment and to restore Niger Delta as the glory of all lands,” he said.

The minister earnestly appealed to the youths of Niger Delta to sheath their sword and embrace peace, saying, “The future rightly belongs to them and that future starts now.”
