Supporters of the Abia state Governor elect, Uche Ogah have called on the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), to ensure that he is sworn in.

Ogah was issued a certificate of return by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), following a court ruling ordering Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to vacate office.

Ikpeazu however urged Abia residents to keep calm, adding that he has filed an appeal in the court.

Reports say Theresa Uzoukwu, the Attorney-General of Abia state, reportedly went into hiding following pressures from different quarters to swear in Ogah.

The spokesman of Uche Ogah Campaign Organisation, Max Ozoaka also called on the Attorney General of the Federation to act swiftly so there will be no vacuum in the state.
