The state figures recently made this call during the ceremony held in honour of the Comptroller General of Customs, retired Col Hameed Ibrahim Ali, who visited the state on Monday, June 13, 2016.
According to a report by Daily Interest, the Sultan urged the federal government to reconsider its policy on rice importation across the land borders as there is hunger in the country.
"We know that change is very difficult, especially changing things that suffered decades of negligence and destruction. We have been telling people to be patient with this government but there is limit to that appeal when there is hunger, when people are hungry,” he said.
In the same vain, Governor Tambuwal lamented the high cost of food items in the country, recommending special efforts to alleviate the issue.
"We support government policy and when there is difficulty we seek for its review," he said.
However, the Comptroller General said it was a policy which could not be changed by the agency. He assured them that he would take their requests to the government.
