Sylva stressed the importance of giving support to the planned development for the ultimate purpose of improving the well-being of the people in the Niger Delta.

E-Bayelsa Governor Timipre Sylva

Chief Timipre Silva, chieftain of All Progressives Congress and former Governor of Bayelsa State, made the call in a statement by Ms. Stella Inametti, Head of Media and Communications, Presidential Amnesty Programme, in Abuja on Thursday.

Inametti quoted  Silva as having said this when he  paid a courtesy visit to the Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta and Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, retired Brig.-Gen.Paul Boroh.

Silva lauded the achievements of the amnesty programme in the last two years under the leadership of Boroh, saying that the region has particularly witnessed significant increase in human capital development within the period.

Boroh appreciated Sylva for the support, describing him as one of the champions of the South-South.

Boroh reiterated federal government’s commitment to the development of the Niger Delta, peace and stability as well as sustainable reintegration and youth empowerment.

He also told the former governor about the objectives of the  youth agricultural programmes embarked upon by the office and the multiplier effect which will include value chain of food sufficiency, massive job opportunities and wealth creation.
