Police deploy more men to Funtua to avoid clash

The Police command in Katsina has deployed more men to Funtua following the clash between policemen and members of Shiite.

‪Members of Islamic movement in Nigeria (IMN) also known as Shiites have protested,  demanding an unconditional release of their leader, Sheik Ibraheem El-Zakzaky.

This, according to the command, is coming after Wednesday’s clash between policemen and members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), also known as Shiites.

The Police Commissioner in the state, Usman Abdullahi, had confirmed that three persons died, while two policemen were injured during the clash.

Abdullah also said that 46 persons comprising men and women, were arrested for participating in the unlawful procession.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Salisu Agaisa, told newsmen on Friday that the deployment from neighboring states was to curtail possible continuation of the unlawful procession by the sect members.

Agaisa, therefore , enjoined people in the town to go about their lawful businesses.

He said that police had intensified surveillance and patrol in the area to ensure safety of lives and property, adding that the situation had been brought under control.
