In time, it could get become easy to know the sexual health status of one's sexual partner as a group of teenage students have created a new 'smart condom' which glows when it comes in contact with an STD.

The condoms were created  for the Teen Tech awards, and they claim they'll glow different colors if it detects an STD.

The creators said the condom will work with a layer of chemicals on the surface that will attach to bacteria and viruses from STDs.

In reaction to different STDs, the condoms will glow thus - green for chlamydia, yellow for herpes, purple in the presence of the human papillomavirus which causes genital warts, and blue for syphilis.

According to one of the designers,

“We wanted to create something that makes detecting harmful STIs safer than ever before, so that people can take immediate action in the privacy of their own homes"
