Governor to pay workers half month salary on Monday

The workers had recently called off their strike after three days of protesting the non payment of their five months salaries.

'Seriake Dickson's visit to Buhari is a sign of desperation'

The Governor was said to have given the directive on Saturday, June 11, according to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Iworiso-Markson.

Dickson, who had earlier instructed that the workers be paid, was dismayed that his directive had not been carried out, the statement said.

He warned that failure to pay the workers, who have been owed five months salaries, by Monday will attract disciplinary action against the erring officers.

Dickson was said to have also demanded an immediate explanation on the reason for the delay. He commended the workers for their patience, and expressed his administration’s commitment to their welfare.

They were said to have accepted government's offer to pay 50 per cent of their salary arrears, starting from February.
