The Managing Director of the  Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mrs. Ibim Semenitari has denied allegations that she borrowed N1b when she served as Rivers state commissioner for Information and Communications, during Rotimi Amaechi’s tenure.

Punch Newspapers reports that the current Commissioner for Information and Communications, Dr. Austin Tam-George accused Semenitari of borrowing the said amount, on behalf of the state’s Information and Communications ministry.

In a swift reaction, the NDDC boss said “No Commissioner can do that (borrow money on behalf of a ministry). I did not.”

Adding that “It is against financial guidelines and service rules. Only a state government can borrow and there was no project in the ministry of information requiring government to borrow.”
