The AIDS Health Care Foundation (AHF) has said that it will give out 1.5 million condoms in Nigeria.

The AHF plans to distribute the condoms to commemorate the World Condom Day which holds annually on February 13.

“In order to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS while expressing sexuality, we need you to take care of your sexual and reproductive health by using condom correctly,’’ AHF Country Director, Adetayo Towolawi said on Monday, February 13, 2017, in Abuja.

According to Vanguard, Towolawi also said that the foundation had been distributing between 1.5 million and two million condoms annually.

In 2016, the AHF announced that it would distribute 500,000 condoms in Abuja to mark World Condom Day.

“Globally there has been a great decline in the use and availability of condoms that is why we are advocating for more use of the mode of protection,” AHF Abuja Coordinator, Dr Kena Onu said at the time.

“It is really cool because it is not just to protect yourself but also to protect your loved ones, we feel it is easier and better to use condoms because it can achieve 85 to 90 per cent protection,’’ he added.

AHF was established in Nigeria in 2011, and currently operates in six states in the country and 36 countries of the world.
