Ex-NIMASA boss bags 5-year jail term for N1.5bn fraud

Court jails ex-NIMASA boss, Omatseye for five years

 

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, who foundOmatseye guilty of the charges brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), gave the verdict on Friday, May 20.

The EFCC had arraigned the ex-NIMASA boss for multiple offences including contract splitting and bid rigging estimated at over N1.5 billion while he was the DG of the agency.

According to the anti-graft commission, the offence contravened Section 58(4) (d) of the Public Procurement Act, 2007.

Omatseye was also charged with money laundering which is punishable under Sections 14(a) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2004.
