The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the children were administered Oral Polio Vaccines (OPV) and antigens against other child killer diseases in the March round exercise.

Muhammad said that the exercise was successful and attained effective coverage of the targeted child population.

He noted that the National Primary Healthcare Agency supplied adequate doses of vaccines, which facilitated smooth conduct of the exercise.

Muhammad added that the council also deployed over 300 health workers to the 11 wards in the area, to enhance immunisation coverage.

He commended the council for its support to the exercise as well as community and religious leaders for mobilising their subjects and members in the exercise.

The director called on parents to present their children for routine immunisation at designated centres to protect them against diseases.

According to him, the agency had commenced preparations for the next round immunisation in the area.

Muhammad reiterated the government commitment toward total eradication of the disease as well as enhanced healthcare delivery at the grassroots.
