Mrs Jonathan made the plea via a petition presented to the House by Delta State lawmaker, Lovette Idisi on Wednesday, December 7.
“This petition is in line with section 36 where every citizen is presumed innocent until proven guilty,” Idisi said according to The Cable.
“Mr. Speaker, here is a petition on the constant harassment of the former first lady. It was sent to my office. With the leave of the house, I seek your permission to lay the petition before the house,” he added.
The petition was subsequently referred to the House Committee on Public Petitions by Speaker, Yakubu Dogara.
Mrs Jonathan is being probed by the EFCC for alleged money laundering after she admitted ownership of a large sum of money found in a variety of bank accounts.
She has insisted that the money is rightfully hers and was given to her by friends and associates.
