Speaking to newsmen at Osun state, the Chairman of the state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress,Mr. Jacob Adekomi said the union has agreed to suspend their strike action.
Workers suspend strike action in anticipation of bailout funds
He said they came up with the decision after fruitful negotiations with representatives of the Osun state Government.

Adekomi added that there a Memorandum Of Understanding(MOU) was signed between representatives of labour and the government.
He also made available the MOU to journalist.
It reads “Both parties, therefore, agreed to enter into this Memorandum of Understanding in anticipation of the bailout expected from the Federal Government on the issue of settlement of salary arrears and to show the state government’s commitment to the welfare of its workforce, having in mind the need to data towards the completion of the physical verification exercise of workers and retirees in the public service. The labour unions will suspend the ongoing strike on the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding to allow all public service personnel audit and verification exercise as well as auditing of local government staff/ primary school teachers and retires take place.”
Adekomi was quick to add that the government has assured the workers that the verification exercise was not to sack any worker, but to verify how many workers the state has.
