FG has not misused N500B welfare fund – Laolu Akande

Akande also told journalists that the funds budgeted for the program have not been disbursed at all.

It also denied reports alleging that the N500b welfare funds has been mismanaged by the Buhari administration.

Laolu Akande, the Senior Special Assistant to the Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo on Media and Publicity, in a statement issued to journalists, said the funds have not been disbursed.

Akande also said “While we understand the need for an ongoing public discussion of this unprecedented budgetary allocation in favour of the Nigerian people especially the poorest and the most vulnerable, it is not correct to claim any form of mismanagement  or marginalisation whatsoever.

“There has not been any disbursement from the allocated fund not to talk of any kind of mismanagement at all.

“While it is true that funds are being released for the social investment programmes, it is rather preposterous for now to say there is no evidence where the funds have gone to.”

Osinbajo also assured Nigerians that they will see the change promised by Buhari’s government in another couple of years.
