‘Our leader will not negotiate with FG,’ IPOB says

The group made the comment after Kanu’s lawyers said their client was ready to negotiate with the government.

IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu

“Nnamdi Kanu is not averse to political solution in resolving his present politically orchestrated ordeal,” one lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor said.

IPOB has however condemned the statement via a statement released by spokesman, Emma Powerful.

The statement reads:

“The leader for the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and the members of IPOB worldwide, appeal to the public and the people of Biafra to remain calm and disregard the press statement credited to the defense lawyers, namely Barr Ifeanyi Ejiofor and Chief Amobi Nzelu and others that appeared at a press conference in Abuja.”

“It is very unfortunate that the lawyers did not consult the leader of IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and members of the Directorate of State before speaking about our relationship with the Avengers or willingness to dialogue with the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.”

“In this regard, it is crucial to clarify that our leader will not discuss with the Nigerian government until court orders granting him unconditional release is obeyed by the DSS.”

“Therefore, the public should not be perturbed because our march towards the quest for the restoration of God’s nation, Biafra, is intact under the divine direction of our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.”

“We are the biggest mass movement on this planet and so, we shall neither retreat nor surrender. Those that know him will attest to the fact that Biafra is more important to him than his life. Therefore, the public must understand that Ifeanyi Ejiofor and Amobi Nzelu are not members of the Indigenous People of Biafra. They are only there for the legal defence of our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and therefore do not know the modus operandi of the IPOB family.”

“We are calling on all the members of the Indigenous people of Biafra worldwide, lovers of freedom and friends of Biafra to disregard the statement credited to the defence counsel. While reiterating its call for the release of Nnamdi Kanu and other IPOB members in detention, the group commended the efforts being made by the Federal Government to release their detained members in Aba, Abia State.”

The group had earlier said that Kanu would rather die than renounce the Biafra agitation.

The IPOB leader, who also spearheaded Radio Biafra, has been in detention since October 2015 and is facing charges of treason.
