Army kills 10 terrorists in ambush

Troops of the 8 Task Force Division killed the terrorists in a village near Maiduguri.

Boko Haram has intensified suicide attacks in and around Maiduguri in recent months after losing territory to the Nigerian military

This was disclosed by the Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, ColonelTimothy Antigha, who revealed that troops of the 8 Task Force Division killed the terrorists in the village near Maiduguri, the main hub of the terrorist sect.

The army also recovered bicycles and food items from the terrorists who have carried out heinous raids on villages surrounding the capital city in the past few months.

While speaking on Wednesday, August 16, ColonelAntigha said, "The troops of 8 Task Force Division have neutralized 10 terrorists in Maza village in Marte Local Government Areas of Borno State.

"The terrorists fell into an ambush laid by troops at about 9pm last night, as they attempted to sneak back into their swampy hideouts in the Lake Chad.

"Items recovered from the terrorists include 10 bicycles, 11 carts containing food items and 2 cows. In a related development, troops also recovered 50 cows abandoned by fleeing terrorists, during clearance operations conducted in Danari and Mowo villages in Monguno Local Government Area.

"It should be noted that as the noose continues to tighten on Boko Haram terrorists, coupled with the wet season, they have resorted to the use of bicycles and carts as means of transportation."

Local hunters in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa state also foiled a Boko Haram attack on Tuesday when they ambushed terrorists on their way to terrorise villages in the area.

This happened a day after fighters had attacked Nyibango and Muduvu communities in the Madagali area late on Monday night, burning down buildings, including worship centers, as well as animals.
