Indigenes of the Gbaramatu kingdom, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, have called on the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) to stop bombing oil pipelines.

Some of the community leaders also urged the militants to embrace the Federal Government’s dialogue offer.

To show total commitment, President Buhari ordered an immediate withdrawal of troops from the region.

An elder, Chief Jeffery Ojogun said the government should also look into possibilities of ensuring that the Nigerian Maritime University in Okerenkoko is operational.

Ojogun added that it will go a long way to solve the matter on ground.

Punch reports that the community spokesman, Comrade Sheriff Mulade said "Our position is that the continued bombings of the region in view of the ceasefire arrangement are highly condemnable.  They are technically crippling the economy to enable get what they want. So, they should not personalise their Niger Delta demands.

“Some of the things they highlighted are what the Niger Delta people are agitating for and violence is not best way to get those things done. We think they are only taking advantage of government’s failure to address these fundamental issues.’’

The Bakassi Strike Force (BSF) has also called on the NDA to stop bombing pipelines.
