NBS says Nigerians buy petrol at N191/litre in January

On Friday, February 16, 2018, the NBS' report for the month of January 2018 revealed that many Nigerians are still paying far above N145 per litre pump price of petrol approved by the Federal Government for the product.
In the NBS Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) price watch, Nigerians are paying about N46 per litre higher than the official pump price of the product.
The report, published by The Punch, is based on the actual amount spent by households for the purchase of the PMS across the federation.
Osun state worst hit
According to the NBS report, consumers in Osun state are the worst hit as they paid N228.89 for the product in January 2018.
Abia and Benue states followed as consumers in the states bought fuel N227.5 and N223.33 per litre respectively.
States with the lowest price of petrol are Zamfara, N159.12 per litre; Gombe, N157.73; and Kogi, N152.83.
Consumers in many states in the North and other parts of the country are reportedly suffering untold hardship caused by the severe scarcity of petrol.
Meanwhile, Kaduna, Nasarawa and Niger states as well as Abuja have been experiencing persistent petrol scarcity since last year, even as the queues for the PMS have spread to other states.

NNPC supplied 29.058 million litres to 13 states
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) recently said it supplied a total of 29.058 million litres of Premium Motor Spirit to 13 states in the Northern region in three days.
In its report on daily dispatch to filling stations in Abuja on Friday, February 16, NNPC named the 13 states that got fuel supply.
The 13 states include Kaduna, Kogi, Kwara,Taraba, Kano, Benue, Zamfara, Yobe, Sokoto, Jigawa, Borno, Bauchi and Adamawa.
According to the NNPC, the supplies were made between February 12 and 14, 2018.
