2 suicide bombers kill at least 9 in IDP camp

Residents saw bodies being carried into an ambulance by government emergence services.

 

The area has been the heart of a seven-year-old insurgency by Islamist Boko Haram militants, a military source and residents said.

The first attack occurred at 7:00 am in front of a camp for displaced persons in the Bakasi area and minutes later a second bomb went off at a bus stop, eyewitness said.

An eyewitness who spoke to news sources said  "Bomb blast in Bakassi IDP Camp of Maiduguri and the second bomb blast at NNPC Depot Damboa Road."

According to PR Nigeria, the spokesman of National Emergency Management Agency ( NEMA) in Maiduguri, Abdulkadir Ibrahim confirmed that efforts have been made by rescue and health workers to evacuate wounded victims to Hospitals.

Ibrahim also revealed that the dead bodies have been deposited in the mortuary.

This is coming on the heels of an announcement by the spokesman for the Defence Headquarters, Rabe Abubakarsaying that Boko Haram has finally been destroyed.
